Tutoring approach
As a tutor I aim to improve a student's attainment by actively developing the skills necessary for exam success. We will look at the skills required systematically and at the student's individual strengths and development needs. Each tutorial will involve focus on a particular skill or aspect of knowledge and understanding. Lessons will be highly interactive - involving the student in discussion, questioning, short writing activities and extended homework tasks.
I am very excited by the potential for learning opened up by the internet; an wider range of activities online is now possible such as sharing and discussing documents and PowerPoint presentations.

I have extensive experience teaching English, Media Studies and Drama in Scottish secondary schools. I have also been employed by the Scottish Qualifications Authority as an exam marker in English and Media Studies. For more than twenty years I have been a Head of English in a busy secondary department.

- Post-graduate Certificate in Education,
- Registered with General Teaching Council for Scotland to teach English and Media Studies,

Fantastic interview
is extremely experienced having been a teacher for over 10 years. This came across clearly in his trial lesson. He explained an aspect of English language that I had always found complex but he made it seem simple and clear. He made good use of the software with a PowerPoint presentation and questioned me to make sure that I understood the topic completely before we moved on, without making me feel embarrassed if I did not know the answer or if I suggested the wrong answer. He encouraged me to think for myself and come up with my own ideas. I would recommend him to any student looking to expand their knowledge and improve their exam technique and I would genuinely look forward to my lessons with him! Do not hesitate to contact him if you want more information about what his specialities are but I feel that with his experience he would be more than capable than teaching any aspect of English Literature or Language.
